Calculating TRX transaction fees requires understanding two core TRON resources: Energy and Bandwidth. Every transaction on the TRON blockchain consumes one or both of these resources. When your wallet holds insufficient resources, TRX is automatically burned to cover the cost. A standard TRX transfer consumes approximately 268 Bandwidth points. Since every TRON account receives 600 free daily Bandwidth points, simple TRX transfers cost nothing. However, TRC-20 token transfers such as USDT require Energy — a resource not allocated for free.
For a USDT TRC-20 transfer to a non-empty wallet, approximately 65,000 Energy units are consumed. At the current Energy unit price of 100 sun (following Proposal #104 passed August 2025), this equates to roughly 6.5 TRX per transfer. Sending to a new wallet that has never held USDT costs double — approximately 130,000 Energy units or 13 TRX. At a TRX price of $0.32, a standard USDT transfer costs around $2.08, while a new-wallet transfer costs approximately $4.16. Using energy rental services can reduce these costs to under $0.50 per transfer.
